Maratha Confederacy, domains of the Patwardhans or baronial chiefs (Desais), Silver Rupee, uncertain mint, copying Muhammad Shah's couplet type issue of Azamnagar Gokak Mint, vertical line and three dots as mint-mark on reverse, with frozen RY 6; similar to M&W misc. and unattributed T10, 11.20g.
Very Fine, Very Scarce.
The 'Azamnagar type' rupees were struck at a number of places in South Maharashtra and North Karnataka, where chief political operators were the Patwardhansardars and a number of minor local barons. Coins of only a few mints are attributable.
