Sultans of Delhi, Suris, Muhammad Adil Shah (1552-1556 AD), Silver Rupee, Jaunpur Mint, AH 964, not in G&G, 11.35g. Obv: Shahada in rectangular border, names of Rashidoons and their titles around. Rev: In rectangular border, Sultan Muhammad 'Adil' Khallada Allah Mulkahuwa Saltanahu 'Ala Amrahu, and Nagari legend Sri Mahamadasahi; other titles around, mint-name in bottom margin.
About Extremely Fine, Unique so far, Extremely Rare.
The mint is not listed by G&G for any Suri coins. The coin is dated 964 and is stylistically very similar to the issues of Chunar, Jhusi and the very rare Prayag mints of the same year. Muhammad 'Adil's authority was recognized in the middle Gangetic plain for a short while before he was killed by Jalal Shah of Bengal in that year.
