Sultans of Delhi, Suris, Sher Shah (1538-1545 AD), Silver Tanka, Shergarh Mint, AH 945, similar to G&G D799, 11.05g. Obv: Shahada in rectangular border, names of Rashidoons around; al-Sultan al-'Adil below, but no dividing line above it. Rev: In rectangular border Sher Shah al-Sultan Khallada Allah Mulkahu, and Nagari legend Sri Serasahi; other titles around, mint-name in left margin.
Very Fine, Very Rare.
This coin has no dividing line below the Shahada. G&G do not list this variety for the type. The weight of the coin is close to a Tanka than a Rupee. As such, the coin shows that Sher Shah held royal titles as early as AH 945 and this could be one of the earliest issues as such.
