Gupta Empire, Chandra Gupta II (375-415 AD), Gold Dinar, 'Chhatra' type, Altekar Class II ('metrical legend'), var. D, 7.7 g. Obv: Bare-bodied king, standing facing left, with his fist on the hilt of the sword he carries, offering sacrifice at an altar. A dwarf attendant with flexed knees and head turned back stands behind holding the royal parasol (Chhatra) above his head; Brahmi legend Kshitima…Vikramaditya in exergue. Rev: Nimbate goddess Lakshmi standing three-quarters profile in a Tribhanga pose, holding a lotus in one hand and a long cloth / ribbon in the other, her shoulder cloth hangs free from her outstretched hand; traces of Brahmi legend to the right and Tamgha to left.
