Gupta Empire, Chandra Gupta II (375-415 AD), Gold Dinar, 'Archer' type, Altekar Class II, var. B, 7.74g. Obv: Nimbate and bare-bodied king, holding a strung bow in one hand and an arrow in the other, with Garuda standard in the background and a crescent to its right; Brahmi legend Deva Shri Maharaja(dhiraja)… to the right along the margin and Chandra below king's arm holding the bow. Rev: Nimbate goddess Lakshmi seated crouching on a lotus, with a lotus in one hand and a noose in the other; Brahmi legend Shri Vikramah to the right and Tamgha to left.
Very Fine, Extremely Rare.
The coin is double-struck on both sides, which is an error not frequently met with in Gupta Gold Coins.
