Western Kshatrapas/Satavahanas, a lot of two Silver Drachms of Nahapana (c. 33-78 AD), counterstruck by Satavahana ruler Gotamiputa Siri Satakani. The devices employed for counterstriking are 'Arched hill' and 'Ujjain symbol'. The first coin (ISCH-312.1/D), 2.22g. bears the arched hill on obverse and Ujjain symbol on reverse. The second coin, 1.90 g. has the combination reversed, 'Ujjain' symbol on obverse and 'arched hill' on reverse. (2 Coins)
1st Rare, 2nd Very Rare.
Senior does not list a coin bearing the reversed combination, but remarks the countermarks can 'theoretically occur in any combination'.
