Gandikota, also known as Ganjikota is a fort located on the banks of the river Pennar, in Kadapa district of Andhra Pradesh. Although undated, it is almost certain that this coin was struck in the first decade of the 18th century, in final years of Aurangzeb's reign, when Muhammad Sa'id was in charge of Gandikota. He went on to found the lineage of the Nawabs of Arcot with the title 'Sadatullah Khan' after 1712.
