Archaic Silver Punch-marked Coin (c.350-330 BC), 4 symbol coins of the Meghna-Padma divide in Eastern Bengal (Bangladesh), similar to those reported from the site of Bari-Wateshwar, struck to a ½ Karshapana, 1.73g. Standard with ABCD symbolic configuration. Four symbols – 1. Sun, 2. Six-armed symbol, 3. Open cross and 4. A river boat.
Very Fine, Very Rare.
The boat symbol on the coin is a testimony to the importance these coins had for river-based trading networks.
