Sikh Empire, Silver Rupee, Amritsar Mint, Nanakshahi, year of issue VS 1885/97. "OM" in Hindi inscribed on the reverse of the coin. Period of Sher Singh as ruler. Religious and political symbols started appearing on Sikh coins after the death of Ranjit Singh in 1839 AD (VS 1896).
