Eastern Bengal, Arakan region, Silver Unit of 'Harikela' type coinage (700-800 AD), 6.29g. Obv: Bull seated facing right, crude legend Pajāripu above. Rev: Ornate Shrivatsa symbol, surrounded by beaded garlands; crescent moon and sun above, similar to MNC 503-505.
Very Fine+, Rare.
The legend on this variety of coins has been read as Pattikera and the coins attributed to an area with this name. On this specimen the last letter appears to be different than 'R'. On most Harikela type coins, the seated bull faces left. This coin bears him facing right, which is a rare variation.
