Satavahanas, Silver Portrait Drachma of Vasithiputa Siri Vijaya Satakani (196-202 AD), 2.09g. Obv: Bust of the king facing right, sporting lateral tufted (Kakapaksha) hair-style with jewel on the forehead, with heavy ear-plugs; Brahmi legend Rano Vasithiputasa Siri Vijaya (Satakanisa) around. Rev: Dynastic emblem composed of modified 'Ujjain symbol', six-arched hill with crescent, sun and wavy line in the centre; legend in Southern Brahmi Arahanaku Vahittiputaku Tiru (Vijaya Ha)takanaku around.
Very Fine, Extremely Rare.
Portrait coins of Vijaya Satakarni with tufted hairstyle are Extremely Rare - so far only one specimen in the Ashmolean Museum is known.
