Archaic Silver punch-marked coin of the Upper Son River Valley (Shahdol) region, Karshapana Standard (370-340 BC), MATEC-II, p.922-926, 3.30g. Four punches in ABBC configuration - 1x Elephant with crescent on the back; 2x turtle-like animal surrounded by taurines; 1x candelabrum with taurines placed below the bar.
Very Fine, Very Rare.
Mitchiner does not list Karshapana-standard coins for the sub-type but discusses the coinage of the Shahdol region in good detail.
