Western Vidarbha/Eastern Marathwada region of Maharashtra, inscribed monarchical coinage, (2nd Century BC), coin of king Balamitra, 0.91g. Obv: Elephant walking to right amidst small symbols, Brahmi legend Balamitasa reading anticlockwise outwards above. Rev: Six-armed symbol.
Very Fine+, Very Rare.
Coins of Balamitra are being known for the first time. He was perhaps one of the many '-Mitra' and '-Bhadra' rulers known from coins in this region.
