Western Kshatrapas, uncertain/new ruler, 'Zatra/Ghsatra..?', c. 1st century AD, 'horse'-type copper coin, 2.34g. Obv: Horse standing facing right, traces of corrupt Greek inscription around. Rev: Three-arched hill surmounted by a crescent in centre, Brahmi legend '..(ka)putrasa Zatrasa…'.
Very Fine +, Extremely Rare.
Coins of this type were struck by Chashtana and his brother Damazada, both sons of Ghsamotika/Zamotika. On this coin, the patronymic ends in a 'k' before 'putrasa', so it could be 'Zamotika', but the name of the issuer after it clearly begins with a letter 'Ghsa/Za'. No ruler is yet known with a name beginning as such, so it is likely that this is a coin of a hitherto unknown ruler, perhaps a third son of Ghsamotika/Zamotika, and another brother of Chashtana and Damazada.
