Western Kshatrapas, Kshaharata Dynasty, Nahapana (c. 33-78AD), Silver Drachm. Obv: profile bust of the king to right, crude Greek legend around. Rev: thunderbolt and arrow in centre, Brahmi legend from 6 o'clock to 12 o'clock …Kshaharaasa Nahapanasa.
Very Fine +, Very Rare.
The coin shows traces of being counterstruck on both sides. Joe Cribb published Nahapana's drachms counterstruck on silver issues of Indo-Scythian rulers Sases and Satavastres and a similar coin was sold in our auction 7 (lot no. 34). These coins are historically very significant.
