Copper
Indo-Greeks, Apollodotos II (c.80-65 BC), Copper unit, similar to BN series 14, 5.78g. Obv: Apollo standing right carrying an arrow, Greek legend Basileos Soteros Apollodotou around. Rev: Apollo's tripod in the centre, monograms in left and right fields; Kharoshti legend Maharajasa Tratarasa Apaladatasa along the border.
Very Fine, Rare.
The execution of motifs and the patina suggests that this is a locally produced derivative of Apollodotos II coinage in Gujarat. Such coins were struck most likely by early Saka rulers who later founded the Western Kshatrapadyansties.
