Rev: IN COMMEMORATION above; Enthroned figure of Empire facing, flanked by Science, Letters, Art, Industry and Agriculture; cherubs above bearing shields and wreaths inscribed MDCCCLXXXVII (1887) and MDCCCXXXVII (1837) and VRI; Mercury and Tie reclining below, five linked shields in exergue, inscribed ASIA, AMERICA, EUROPE, AUSTRALASIA, AFRICA.
