Sikh Empire, Sher Singh (1840-1843 AD), silver rupee, Amritsar mint, fixed date VS 1885/moving date VS 19, 'Chhatar' type, unlisted in G. Singh, 11.15g. Obv: 'Nanakshahi' couplet, version V; umbrella (royal Chhatar) between 'Guru' and 'Gobind'; comb (kanghi) symbol below 'Singh'. Rev: 'Julus’ formula with Ber leaf symbol, dotted flower symbol and small sun-face symbol within crescent to right.
High relief striking, Extremely fine, Very rare.
Notably, the moving date "19" is absent from the standard references, where the Chhatar type is otherwise known with moving dates VS 99, VS 1900 and VS 1901, making the present specimen an apparently unrecorded variety.
