Sultans of Madura, gold tanka of Nasir al-Din Mahmud Damghan Shah (1344-1347 AD), Hadrat Dar al-Mulk Ma'abar mint (fully visible), AH 745 (date unlisted in G&G), G&G MD17 (listed as RRR), 10.91g. Obv: Arabic legend al-sultān al-'azam nāsir al-duniyā wa al-din abu al-muzaffar mahmud damghan shah al-sultān. Rev: Arabic legend in circles wārith-i-mulk sulaymān nāsir amir al -mumineen; mint-name and AH date in words in margin reads as duriba hadha al-sikka ba-Hadrat dar al-mulk ma'abar sanah khams wa arba'in wa sab mi'ah.

Nasiruddin Mahmud Damghan Shah succeeded his uncle Ghiyath ud-din Muhammad Damghan Shah. He unleashed a bloodbath of nobles and generals to secure his position but was ultimately killed after three short years of reign. The legends on his coins are noteworthy as he calls himself ghazi - “slayer of infidels” and adopts a unique title wārith-i-mulk sulaymān - “Heir to the Kingdom of Solomon”.
